Birch Island North Easement

Birch Island North is a 58-acre parcel covering most of the northwest quarter of Birch Island and includes 4900 feet of undeveloped shoreline on Mere Point and Middle Bays. It is predominantly mixed growth woods, generally mature, with a small area of open terrain at the most northwesterly point of the property. A 2-acre building envelope in that area allows one single family residence and accessory structures. Along the shore are outcroppings of ledge, shrubby vegetation, and a small salt marsh. The surrounding marine habitat is mostly extensive tidal flats that are important feeding and staging areas for migratory shore and wading birds, and support commercial digging of soft shell clams.
