The 9-acre, Mark Island, at the entrance to eastern Casco Bay and the New Meadows River, is owned by the State of Maine and managed by the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife as part of the Coast of Maine Wildlife Management Area. It provides important nesting habitat to great blue, green and night herons, snowy egrets, osprey, and other seabirds. Please do not land on the island or disturb the birds between March 15th and August 15th.
