Annual membership contributions, camp registration fees, and other unsolicited contributions (unless otherwise specified) provide over 90% of the income needed to meet the Trust's general costs of operation. Those operations include providing for the Trust's office needs, staff, liability and worker's compensation insurance, some professional services, newsletters and other printing, postage, events, membership development, the Nature Cay Camp, and miscellaneous other costs.
Without its Annual Membership contributions, the Trust simply could not meet its responsibilities to preserve and protect Harpswell's natural open spaces, shoreline, and cultural heritage for current and future generations. As the Trust increases the lands and buildings under its protection, its need for membership support also increases.
